Join us for a photography workshop on the Azores Islands!

Picture yourself amidst a paradise of lush green landscapes, dramatic volcanic craters, and azure blue lakes that defy imagination. The Azores, with its rugged terrain and diverse geological features, offers a playground for photographers and nature enthusiasts alike.

Located between Portugal (of which they're a part) and New York, this dramatic series of volcanically-formed islands are within a unique temperature zone which sees the area reasonably warm, lush and green even in November. A land of vistas, stunning drives, powerful natural features, calderas, sea stacks, sheep, good wine and food, and old European charm….the Azores are truly the Enchanted Islands.

DAVE BROSHA // LEADER

Holding a passion for the world and an eye for the beauty it contains, Prince Edward Island-based, award-winning commercial, personal, and adventure photographer Dave Brosha is on a continual journey to seek out and capture the beauty of this world – whether it’s the beauty of some of the most extreme and pristine environments in the world or the beauty of some of a person’s most personal moments. In addition to living throughout northern Canada for much of his life, Dave has also lived in Asia and has travelled extensively through both the many provinces and territories of his native country and numerous countries abroad.  An explorer at heart, his images – no matter what the genre – are full of heart and soul, and are a testament to the human spirit.

KRIS ANDRES // LEADER
Based at the doorstep of the Canadian Rockies in Calgary, Alberta, Kristopher considers the mountains (along with everywhere he travels) to be his second home. Kris is always up for endless adventures with a smile—no matter how "atmospheric" the conditions are. He will be overly excited in almost everything he does in life, capturing each story with the click of a shutter, in any and all genres—from adventure to landscapes to portraiture to food and more! KAHLI HINDMARSH // LEADER
Kahli is a landscape, night and adventure photographer originally from Australia. Now spending most of her time travelling between Canada and New Zealand, her work is a reflection of her passions; travel, mountains and inspiring landscapes. Often found hiking in the mountains or chasing the aurora in the middle of the night, Kahli enjoys the challenge of finding unique scenes and interesting light. Sharing these breathtaking landscapes with others while exploring the world is what motivates Kahli, hoping to inspire people to get out and explore for themselves. She has found a deeper purpose within photography by sharing what she has learned from her experience shooting in the field.

》ITINERARY

The itinerary is subject to change.

Day 1 - Wednesday, Nov 5, 2025 ~ SAO MIGUEL ISLAND

6PM – After settling in your hotel, we will meet as a group with a delicious kick-off dinner in the capital city of Ponta Delgada. Your group leaders will facilitate introductions and review the upcoming adventure and workshop in detail.

Day 2 - Thursday, Nov 6, 2025 ~ SAO MIGUEL ISLAND

After breakfast we will set off on a big day of exploration and will photograph the Sete Cidades Massif, Furnas, and Ponta de Ferraria areas, returning to our hotel after sunset for dinner.

Day 3 - Friday, Nov 7, 2025 ~ TRAVEL TO FAIAL ISLAND

We will start the day with sunrise photograph on Sao Miguel before checking out of the hotel and heading to the airport to fly to the picturesque island of Faial. We will check into our hotel in late afternoon, have a group dinner, and then set off for astrophotography if conditions allow.

Day 4 - Saturday, Nov 8, 2025 ~ FAIAL ISLAND

Faial Island is a small island with stunning coastline. We will make the most of a big day of exploration, starting with sunrise photography and shooting until after sunset. If conditions allow, we will shoot astrophotography after dinner. This day will see us focus our attention on the erie volcanic area surronding the Lighthouse of Ponta Dos Capelinhos, the sight of the last volcanic eruption in the Azores.

Day 5 - Sunday, Nov 9, 2025 ~ FAIAL ISLAND

We will continue our exploration of this beautiful Island, spending time in the Island's capital of Horta. The group will spend time photographing its picturesque harbour and exploring its many narrow streets. This is a perfect "rest" day that will allow some time to enjoy a glass of wine in one of Horta's many restaurants/cafes.

Day 6 - Monday, Nov 10, 2025 ~ FLY TO FLORES

After breakfast, we will depart for the Island of Flores, in our minds the gem of the Azores. This Island boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in the Azores, and the most picturesque drives in the world. We will do some roadside photography before checking into our hotel in mid-afternoon, followed by a sunset session.

Day 7 - Tuesday, Nov 11, 2025 ~ FLORES

This will be a huge exploration of Flores, often described as an "Eden". This day will bring us to multiple waterfalls and the natural swimming pools of Santa Cruz das Flores.Day 8, Nov 12, WEDNESDAYFLORES

We will continue our exploration of this lush photographic dream, including trips to the Poço do Bacalha waterfall and the Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro, which is a series of 20 waterfalls descending into a lake.

Day 9 - Thursday, Nov 13, 2025 ~ FLY TO PONTA DELGADA, CHECK INTO HOTEL

After morning sunrise photography around Flores, we we fly back to the capital of Ponta Delgada on the largest island of Sao Miguel where we will check into our final night's hotel. This evening we will have a celebratory dinner and wine.

Day 10 - Friday, Nov 14, 2025 ~ PONTA DELGADA, DEPARTURE DAY

The workshop formally ends with after-breakfast transportation back to the airport.

Single Supplement: $1,000 CAD

  • Hiking experience // None necessary.

  • Distance/Description // Mainly roadside with some short hikes (3KM round trip max).

  • Footwear // Light hiking shoes or sneakers.

    Photography Level (All): This workshop is open to both amateur and professional photographers.

INSURANCE POLICY 

It is not only advised but required that participants have trip cancellation/interruption insurance, as well as emergency medical/illness insurance and rescue coverage (proof required within 4 months of departure).

Weather and other unforeseen factors can cause delays in travel, particularly from some of our more remote locations. It is the participant’s responsibility to cover any costs in the case of a travel delay of any length. Please ensure your trip cancellation/interruption insurance accommodates this possibility.
