Day 1 -March 4, 2028

Introduction and Orientation:
We venture out and visit the train graveyard on the outskirts of Colchani. This is a fascinating location for capturing the rusting relics of Bolivia's industrial past. Experiment with textures, patterns, and close-up shots of the old locomotives. As the day goes on we travel to Salar de Uyuni, one of the world's most unique and stunning natural landscapes.

Sunset Photography at Salar de Uyuni:
We explore different areas of the salt flats to find the perfect spot for your sunset shots. This will lead us into the golden hour magic that we love to photograph and we will experiment with long exposures, silhouettes, and reflections on the salt flats.

Day 2 -March 5, 2028

Colchani:

Wake up early to stargaze among the salt flats and capture the breathtaking sunrise on the Salar de Uyuni. The flat and vast landscape provides an excellent canvas for beautiful morning shots with the soft, warm light.

In the afternoon, we will continue to explore the unique Salar spots and find that surreal place to enjoy the sunset on Salar de Uyuni

Day 3 - March 6, 2028

Day 4 - March 7, 2028

Salar de Uyuni day:

We continue our explorations of the most remote reaches of Bolivia passing countless volcanoes, colourful lakes and bizarre rock formations. At last we enter the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve to take in the famed, unforgettable Árbol de Piedra and Laguna Colorada.

And come evening, if the skies are clear, you know we’ll be out there shooting the stars over the desert plateaus!

Day 5 - March 8, 2028

Sunrise in the Desierto de Dali, a surreal and otherworldly landscape

We journey to the Arbol de Piedra, a rock formation shaped like a tree, sculpted by wind erosion. Explore different angles and lighting conditions to capture this iconic landmark in the Bolivian desert.

Afternoon: Laguna Colorada, a high-altitude salt lake known for its striking red color, caused by algae and mineral deposits. Photograph the lake's vibrant hues and the numerous flamingos that call this place home. Including the Fauna and Licancabur and will spend some time photographing the diverse wildlife in the area, including vicuñas, Andean foxes, and other unique species.

Capture the majestic presence of Licancabur, a dormant volcano, in the background. As the sun sets in Licancabur the reflections of the mountain and the changing colors of the lake's waters. After dark, head to the Sol de Mañana geothermal area to capture the otherworldly beauty of the geysers and bubbling mud pots in the moonlight.

Nearby, there are natural hot springs where you can capture the steam rising against the night sky.

Conclude your day with a night photo session to capture the stunning starry skies over the Bolivian desert.

WHAT OUR PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO SAY
ABOUT OFFBEAT WORKSHOPS

“Curiosity, kindness, and light. What more could you want from your guides and other members of your community? Our trip was incredible: people, places, and personalities. From chasing the light in a ditch off the side of the road, to finding horses to rub noses with, even the most seemingly insignificant moments were memorable. And that's the beauty of Offbeat, in a nutshell: finding the impossible in the most improbable places.”

-Dave G.

“The workshop was amazing - great instruction and professionalism by the instructors. They did a great job handling the group's variety of experience and took time to help each one of us individually. They prepared well for a variety of conditions and had great locations scouted out before we arrived. Kris and Paul are excellent instructors and loads of fun!”

- Tracy B.

“I have attended a number of OFFBEAT Workshops and have loved them all. The co-founders are two of the most genuine people I have met and they are both so enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. They always ensure that you have the best time and are always willing to share their time and experience with you. My photography has definitely improved since learning from these two. I have also only meet decent and friendly people on these workshops. Everybody is there for the common goal - photography and everybody has such fun. I can not recommend Offbeat highly enough.”

— Claire C.

“I felt the level of collaboration and support among the participants in this one was exceptional and so was the size of the group. It is easier to hide in bigger groups when I feel insecure with my skills and talent. The content was timely, appropriate and exceedingly well organized. The facilitators’ presentation skills were exceptional. I came away with a little more confidence and a lot more knowledge. Thanks, Dave and Paul!!!”

-Jan L.
