Come experience the treasures of the Sub-Arctic tundra with us during the peak of autumn colours in 2027!
Are you an adventurous soul who has a passion for the Canadian north and want to explore a pristine land filled with magic, both big and small? In 2027 we will be taking a small group (8 participants, maximum) up to the remote and beautifully rustic Wolf Lake Camp in search of musk ox, aurora borealis, tundra colours, ptarmigan, wolves, bears, and the incredible hospitality of the locals.
This camp, located a short and exciting 25-minute float plane journey from Kuujjuaq, Quebec, sits on the shores of Wolf Lake - the only camp for miles and miles. Our group will experience daily adventures while at camp, mixing up the plan based on the knowledge and suggestions of camp owner and experienced Inuk guide, Allen Gordon.

》What You’ll Learn
Wildlife Photography: Capture stunning images of musk ox, wolves, foxes, and other iconic northern wildlife in their natural tundra habitat.
Astro & Aurora Photography: Photograph breathtaking night skies filled with stars and potentially aurora borealis right outside your cabin.
Landscape Photography: Explore and shoot dramatic tundra landscapes featuring rugged cliffs, serene lakes, and vibrant autumn colours.
Macro & Detail Photography: Discover the rich textures, colours, and tiny wonders of the Sub-Arctic tundra through close-up and macro photography.
Portrait Opportunities: Create memorable portraits of fellow adventurers and local guides set against the striking beauty of the northern wilderness.
》YOUR OFFBEAT INSTRUCTORS*
(Co-leader to be confirmed)
DAVE BROSHA
Holding a passion for the world and an eye for the beauty it contains, Prince Edward Island-based, award-winning commercial, personal, and adventure photographer Dave Brosha is on a continual journey to seek out and capture the beauty of this world – whether it’s the beauty of some of the most extreme and pristine environments in the world or the beauty of some of a person’s most personal moments. In addition to living throughout northern Canada for much of his life, Dave has also lived in Asia and has travelled extensively through both the many provinces and territories of his native country and numerous countries abroad. An explorer at heart, his images – no matter what the genre – are full of heart and soul, and are a testament to the human spirit.

》Accommodation and Meals
There are few places in Canada that are situated in close proximity to musk ox herds, so it really makes the Wolf Lake Camp stand out as a destination for wildlife, landscape, and nature lovers.
When we’re not out exploring, hiking, or shooting, camp life has a great vibe and we’ll spend our time telling stories around the nightly camp fire, editing in the common areas, or enjoying three hearty meals prepared by the great camp cook team at Wolf Lake.
Camp is rustic but comfortable and you can tell the effort Allen has made over the years to provide great hospitality in a very remote and challenging environment. The Arctic and sub-Arctic are notoriously difficult to operate in as the cost of everything in the Canadian Far North can be extreme, but he and his team have pulled together a really special camp in a majestic setting.
Our 8 adventurous souls will share cabins (your roommates will be someone of the same gender, unless a couple comes along in which case we will ensure your pairing) which are plain but cozy. While the camp has high-speed internet, come for the week with the mindset of being disconnected and taking in the quiet beauty and tranquility Wolf Lake has to offer.
》Important Note
One thing to note if you are considering attending is that much of our photographic adventures will be planned around hiking, so you must be mobile enough to hike distances of 5-10KM over uneven terrain. The location of the musk ox herds can never be predicted on a daily basis, so we will explore for the herds using a combination of boats, scouting along the beautiful waters of Wolf Lake, and our own “foot power”, hiking the tundra to gain closer proximity if a herd has been sighted.

The daily photographic possibilities include:
- hiking across colourful tundra
- landscape photography around the beautiful lake, which is partially lined by rugged cliffs.
- astro and aurora photography (a nightly possibility, depending on conditions…good astronomers photos are to be found only a few short steps away from your cabin)
- incredible macro and detail photography of the colourful tundra, which is rich in diversity.
- wildlife photography.
Wildlife photography deserves its own special mention here, as the Wolf Lake Camp is one of the prime locations in the world to photograph the elegant and pre-historic looking musk ok. The Wolf Lake Camp often has numerous herds within hiking distance of camp, and much of our week’s photographic adventures will be centred around locating and spending time (adhering to strict and ethical wildlife photography guidelines) with these beautiful creatures.
While wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, the chances of spending time with musk ox are high, and there’s also the possibility of encountering black bears, wolves, foxes, peregrine falcons, eagles, ermine, hares, ptarmigans, and more.
There are few places in Canada that are situated in close proximity to musk ox herds, so it really makes the Wolf Lake Camp stand out as a destination for wildlife, landscape, and nature lovers.
WHAT OUR PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO SAY

“Thank you for hosting such an exceptional workshop. You provided a great mix of environments to photograph which was nicely balanced with time to shoot, reflect and learn new skills. Assistance was easy to access and the leaders were encouraging and very willing to share their knowledge with participants. The overall environment; whether in the field or back and the lodge; was relaxed and inviting. And of course; one must comment on the exceptional meals provided throughout the workshop. Lots of laughs were had and memories were made! Thank you for such an exceptional experience OFFBEAT Leaders! There are definitely more workshops with OFFBEAT in my future! 5⭐️
