Trip Summary: Wilds of Waterton 2025

By Kahli April

A few weeks ago, Kahli April, Colleen Gara, and Sara Kempner hosted OFFBEAT’s first-ever women-only photography retreat in the breathtaking Waterton Lakes National Park and it was nothing short of magical.

Surrounded by towering mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and fields bursting with wildflowers, including the iconic beargrass in full bloom, our group was treated to the very best that nature had to offer.

We did it all, waking up early to watch the first light touch the mountains and exploring the park all day while the weather gave us the perfect conditions to capture stunning landscapes, intimate wildlife moments, and even the star-filled Milky Way.

Of course, we enjoyed some of the finer things too, like a boat cruise on the pristine Waterton Lake, high tea at the Prince of Wales Hotel and a delicious finale dinner together.

We encountered abundant wildlife like foxes and bears, challenged ourselves with new techniques, and found inspiration in each other’s perspectives and stories.

This retreat wasn’t just about capturing beautiful images; it was about creating space for creativity, connection, and growth. We left Waterton feeling recharged, inspired, and already dreaming of the next adventure.
